Joy Loewen

Joy is the CEO of the National Screen Institute, a Winnipeg-based not-for-profit that empowers storytellers across Canada through training and mentorship.

Joy is a lovely soul, she believes in the power of story and has a passion for helping people share theirs with the world.

During her 30-year career in the media industry, Joy has seen first-hand how telling our stories can build empathy and connection. In divisive times, stories are key in our ability to understand others and heal our communities. As a lifelong advocate for women and girls, Joy helped launch the Women’s Television Network (now The W Network) in 1995 from its home base in Winnipeg.

For over a decade she championed women’s leadership and excellence as a volunteer board member at Balmoral Hall, serving two years as board chair. Joy strongly believes in the unbridled potential of women and our collective responsibility to lift each other up. She is a fiercely proud Manitoban and gives back to her community through volunteerism. To topi it off Joy is currently on the boards of The Winnipeg Foundation and Canada's National Ballet School, she sits as a member of the Order of Manitoba and Queen’s Council advisories and has the honour of serving as a civilian aide to The Honourable Janice C. Filmon, Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba.

As you can see, Joy is not your typical female CEO, and this comes with a challenge. She needed help developing a personal brand that shows who she, what she does, why in away that authentically reflects her personality and passions.

Although it sounds like Joy has it all figured out, she came to us with the concept that she is always in a constant state of become exactly who she is meant to be; Joy.

Soon after we finished her personal brand, Joy was awarded one of The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medals, awarded to Canadians who make a difference in their communities.
